  • East Tailrace boat ramp closed Tuesday for repairs

    RIVERDALE, N.D. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced that East Tailrace boat ramp at Garrison Dam on the Missouri River will be temporarily closed Tuesday from 11:00am to 3:00pm to conduct repairs to the boat ramp. No releases are scheduled during this time frame. The ramp will reopen to the public at 3:00pm. 
  • Temporary facility closures at Government Bay, Lake Sakakawea

    RIVERDALE, N.D.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced Monday the temporary closure of the access road and fish cleaning station at the Government Bay Recreation Area on Lake Sakakawea because of a water line break in Riverdale, North Dakota.
  • Crest Road closed Monday and Tuesday

    YANKTON, S.D. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday that Crest Road will be closed Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge inspections; motorists should plan on taking alternate routes during the closure.
  • Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 52 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue five new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing seaweed mariculture activities, finfish mariculture activities, electric utility line and telecommunications activities, utility line activities for water and other substances, and water reclamation and reuse facilities.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District has scheduled public hearings for the purpose of collecting information or evidence which will be considered in evaluating the proposed USACE permit action for the Keystone XL Pipeline.
  • Vegetation control to begin on Missouri River sandbars between Garrison Dam and Huff, North Dakota

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct vegetation management activities on sandbars in the Missouri River between Garrison Dam and Huff, North Dakota in September. The Bismarck-Mandan River reach, miles 1,325 to 1,310 will not be sprayed. This work is being done to keep the sandbars free of vegetation and usable by the endangered interior least tern and threatened piping plover for nesting.
  • Vegetation control to begin on Missouri River sandbars between Yankton and Vermillion, South Dakota

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct vegetation management activities on sandbars in the Missouri River between Yankton and Vermillion, South Dakota, the upper portion of Lewis and Clark Lake near Springfield, South Dakota and Niobrara, Nebraska, and as far upstream as Pickstown, South Dakota in September.
