District awards contract for phase three development of Zorinsky Lake maintenance corridor
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District Contracting Division recently awarded a $479,740 contract on behalf of the Missouri River Project Office to create a maintenance corridor along the northern portion of the federal property line at Zorinsky Lake in Omaha between 189th Avenue and 167th Street.

Crest Road at Gavins Point Dam scheduled to close for maintenance
YANKTON, S.D. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that Crest Road at Gavins Point Dam and the associated ramp road will be closed September 12-13 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for maintenance and dam inspections.

Public comment sought for Draft Finding of No Significant Impact for Lower Brule North Ecosystem Restoration project
OMAHA, Neb. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced it is extending the public comment period for the Lower Brule North Ecosystem Restoration Draft Feasibility Report and Integrated Environmental Assessment and is providing the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for public comment until September 26, 2022.

USACE to begin vegetation control on Missouri River sandbars between Yankton, Vermillion, South Dakota
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that it will conduct vegetation management activities in September on Missouri River sandbars at the following locations: between Yankton and Vermillion, South Dakota; the upper portion of Lewis and Clark Lake near Springfield, South Dakota and Niobrara, Nebraska; and as far upstream as Pickstown, South Dakota.

USACE Montana Regulatory Office working to expedite permits in wake of June flooding
HELENA, Mont. –The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that the USACE Montana Regulatory office will continue expediting and prioritizing permits for emergency-related actions in the aftermath of Montana’s severe storms and flood event in June. Regulatory personnel have been working extended hours to make sure emergency and non-emergency flood-damage repair and reconstruction work can be given the green light.

USACE, Reclamation to co-host ribbon cutting ceremony for Lower Yellowstone diversion dam, fish passage project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will co-host an official ribbon cutting ceremony on July 26, at 11:00 a.m. on Joe’s Island near Glendive to celebrate the completion of the Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project. The celebration will also acknowledge Reclamation’s 120th anniversary.
