  • Environmental Impact Statement completed for Fort Peck Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District has publicly made available the final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for test releases from Fort Peck Dam, Montana. The purpose of the EIS is to assess the capacity of test flows from the Fort Peck Dam to promote the growth and survival of the pallid sturgeon, a fish species listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act of 1973.
  • Vegetation control set for invasive species located at Fort Peck Reservoir, Montana

    Beginning the week of August 22, 2021, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will conduct vegetation management activities on the Seven Blackfoot, Billy, Wilson, McCarty, Sheep, Short, Cart Trail, Armstrong and Doney drainages; as well as the shoreline between Seven Blackfoot and Billy drainage located at the Fort Peck Reservoir in Garfield and Phillips Counties, Montana.
  • Campground open with limited access at Crooked Creek Recreation Area on Fort Peck Reservoir due to increased water levels

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced campgrounds at Crooked Creek on Fort Peck Reservoir, located northeast of Winnett, Montana, remains open with reservoir water levels slightly more than a foot and siltation in the bay. Boaters should use extreme caution when launching or entering the bay.
  • Motorized access open to ice on Fort Peck Reservoir

    With ice finally covering the Fort Peck Reservoir and the Dredge Cuts, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to remind recreationists that motorized vehicles are only permitted on developed ice access routes, such as: public or numbered roads, boat ramps or other designated routes within USACE Recreation Areas. All other off-road vehicle operations are prohibited on USACE lands. This prohibition includes driving along the shoreline between the frozen lake and the high-water mark except for the purpose of navigating around an ice pressure ridge or open water by the shortest route, not to exceed 1/8 mile. Motorized vehicles operated on USACE roads and designated access routes must be properly licensed or registered, including snowmobiles and ATV/UTVs or side-by-sides.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Tuesday plans to upgrade the Fort Peck Marina boat ramp.
  • Releases from Fort Peck Dam to decline during maintenance work

    Releases from Fort Peck Dam will be reduced from 11,000 cubic feet per second to 8,500 cfs on July 28 and then increase slightly to 9,000 cfs on July 29. A Power Plant maintenance project originally scheduled for June was rescheduled for late July. The project will require outages on Units 1, 2, and 3 to support testing on Unit 2.
  • Fort Peck Interpretive Center opening with modifications

    FORT PECK, Mont. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Peck (Montana) Interpretive Center will open Monday to visitors daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Corps of Engineers expands reservations at Fort Peck Downstream and West End Campgrounds

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will open the Downstream Campground and West End Tent and Trailer Campground at the Fort Peck, Montana project for camping Monday. Both campgrounds are moving to a full reservation system to streamline site occupancy and payments for visitors and staff. The cash-less process will help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
