    USACE announces summer traffic pattern changes for Garrison Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, announces changes to traffic patterns for Garrison Dam Crest Goad and Spillway Bridge due to summer maintenance and construction. The Crest Road lighting replacement is scheduled for May 15 to Sept. 12, 2025, and Spillway Bridge concrete repair is scheduled for June 16 to Sept. 15, 2025. During these times, contractors will have traffic controls in place resulting in reduced speeds and one-lane travel for commuters during daylight hours. These controls will be removed at night. USACE appreciated the public’s understanding and slow passage through these work areas to help keep workers safe. If feasible, commuters are encouraged to consider alternate routes.

    Public Safety Notice: High flows scheduled during annual maintenance at Cherry Creek Dam May 21

    Higher than normal flows of water from Cherry Creek Dam will begin Wednesday, May 21, 2025, as part of annual sediment flushing by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to help ensure proper operation of the dam’s outlet gates.

    PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING: Former Offutt Air Force Base, Atlas “D” Missile Site 3

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District will be hosting a public informational meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (CST) at the Rand Community Center, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, regarding the environmental activities at the former Offutt Air Force Base Atlas “D” Missile Site 3, located near Missouri Valley.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service and local volunteer fire departments, have scheduled prescribed burns on the Oahe Dam for April 7, 2025, that will cause traffic restrictions to Highway 1806 and Crest Road (Highway 204).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is soliciting comments regarding the proposed Quick Current Broadband, Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, National Telecommunications and Information (NTIA) Decatur Project. USACE Omaha District has determined that the Quick Current Broadband Project would entail an alteration to the federal project, and therefore requires permission under Section 408. The project proposes construction of broadband cables underneath the Missouri River.

    The road leading to Lake Sakakawea's Government Bay Boat Ramp at the junction with Missouri Drive in Riverdale, North Dakota will be temporarily closed beginning March 17, 2025, for boat ramp and bay maintenance scheduled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District.
