    Work will soon be starting on the repair of the Pierre causeway, and the public is asked to remain a safe distance from the work site.

    Repairs to damages at Left Tailrace Campground scheduled to begin this spring

    During the Missouri River Flood of 2011, the Left Tailrace Campground at Big Bend Dam sustained substantial damages to roads, camp pads and the site’s electrical system. The opening of this popular campground and its adjoining parking area will be delayed until July 1, 2012, to allow roughly $1 million in repairs to take place.

    Corps to hold public meeting to gain input on Fort Peck Spillway test

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, will hold an informational meeting on April 16 at 1 p.m. to gain public and Tribal input on a proposed spillway test at Fort Peck Dam. The meeting will follow the Spring Public Meeting being held by the Water Management Division at the Fort Peck Interpretive Center.

In some places, levees held and a crisis was averted. In other places, the levees failed and lives were disrupted.
