Acquisition Status:  Easements donated to the Corps in 2002 and 2003.

On-Site Management:  Missouri Department of Conservation administers and/or performs operation and maintenance activities on behalf of the Corps according to the terms of various agreements.

Site Access:.  To reach this area, go north approximately 2.5 miles from the I-270 Riverview Drive exit. Riverview Drive becomes Columbia Bottom Road at its junction with Larimore Road.

Description:  The Columbia Bottom site is located along the Missouri River.

• Completed environmental restoration work includes a levee setback, reconnecting a large floodplain area to the river, and development of 800 acres of wetlands. Native vegetation restoration and management is an ongoing activity.
• The site contains a wide variety of features such as maturing riparian forests, native grasslands, emergent wetlands, food plots and scour holes.

Status:  Open to the public.  Habitat construction is complete. 

Site Use:  The area is available for many outdoor related activities including bird watching, bicycling, canoeing, dog training, hiking, horseback riding (contact area manager), fishing and hunting (under special regulations).

Site-use Regulations:  

• People visiting these areas must comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including hunting, fishing, etc.  In general Title 36 Part 327 of the Code of Federal Regulations governs the use of Corps property.  Other regulations may apply to properties owned by other federal agencies.
• Special regulations and restrictions may be posted on site.
