CCSCMAs may be established for an initial term of up to ten (10) years, with an additional five (5) option-years available without further competition.

    Warm February temperatures triggered early snowmelt and runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa, but the overall 2026 runoff forecast remains well below average. February runoff was 1.3 million acre-feet, 113% of average. Despite this above average runoff in the Garrison, Oahe, and Gavins Point reaches, the full-year runoff forecast above Sioux City, Iowa is 20.6 MAF, 80% of average.

    On Feb. 23, 2026, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Adam R. Telle announced a major initiative, “Building Infrastructure, Not Paperwork,” for the Army’s Civil Works program. Within the Omaha District, this initiative supports the continued delivery of critical infrastructure projects that strengthen communities, enhance resilience, and support national priorities across the region.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District and Omaha District, announced today it will host a series of public meetings to provide updates and gather public input on the Lower Missouri River Basin Flood Risk and Resiliency Study.
  • USACE seeks public comment on draft Environmental Assessment for Weigand Marina expansion proposal at Lewis and Clark Lake in Knox County, Nebraska

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District (USACE) is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s (NGPC) proposal to expand the existing Weigand Marina and associated public recreational development at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area (SRA) located on the USACE Gavins Point Dam / Lewis and Clark Lake Civil Works Project near Crofton in Knox County, Nebraska. The proposed project includes construction of a new boat ramp, expanding the number of covered and uncovered boat slips and docks, angler fishing access piers, shoreline improvements, a new fueling dock, a water storage tank, and new parking lots. To support this proposed action, dredging of the existing and new marina, disposal of dredge material, along with construction of a new permanent breakwater and floating wave attenuators would be required. The Lewis and Clark SRA consists of federal lands and waters under administration of the USACE Omaha District that is outgranted to NGPC under a parks and recreation lease; therefore, USACE review and approval is required.
  • Fort Peck Interpretive Center celebrates 20 years

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is celebrating 20 years since opening the Fort Peck Dam Interpretive Center and Museum in Fort Peck, Montana on Saturday, June 21, 2025. In addition, the Montana Dinosaur Trail also turns 20 this year. The Interpretive Center will be open June 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    The road leading to Lake Sakakawea's Government Bay Boat Ramp at the junction with Missouri Drive in Riverdale, North Dakota will be temporarily closed beginning March 17, 2025, for boat ramp and bay maintenance scheduled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District.
  • Corps seeks public comment on Draft Tiered Environmental Assessment, R-562 PL 84-99 Levee Rehabilitation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ draft tiered environmental assessment (EA) for the R-562 Public Law (PL) 84-99 levee rehabilitation is currently available for public review. The EA evaluates the environmental impacts of correcting damages to the R-562 levee system, caused by the flood on the Missouri River in 2019. These damages have compromised the level of flood protection that the levee system provides and poses a risk to property and life safety. Repairs to the levee system are needed to address this risk to property and life safety by restoring a level of flood protection to the leveed area. The proposed project is located between Missouri River miles 541.5-549.0 in Otoe and Nemaha Counties, Nebraska.
