Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee to hold winter plenary session in Bellevue, Nebraska
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold a plenary session Dec. 3 - 5, 2024, in Bellevue, Nebraska.

Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee to hold fall plenary session in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, announced that the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold a plenary session Sep. 17-19, 2024, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The meeting will be held at the Best Western Plus Ramkota Hotel beginning at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Sep. 17, and concluding at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sep. 19. The draft MRRIC meeting agenda can be requested by emailing mrric@usace.army.mil. The MRRIC meets two to three times each year. All sessions are open for the public to observe the proceedings, unless noted as ‘executive’. Additionally, at least one session each day is open to members of the public wishing to address the committee and the lead federal agencies—the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. All public sessions are noted in the agenda.

Monitoring of pallid sturgeon response to test flow continues with some surprising news
The 2024 test flow from Fort Peck Dam was the first in a series of test flows intended to comply with the 2018 Biological Opinion. The test flow began April 26 with an initial flow peak in early May and a second flow peak in late June.

Notice of Solicitation of Applications for Stakeholder Representative Members for the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee
The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee is soliciting applications to fill vacant stakeholder representative member positions. Members are sought to fill vacancies on the committee to represent various categories of interests within the Missouri River basin. The MRRIC was formed to advise the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on a study of the Missouri River and its tributaries and to provide guidance to USACE with respect to the Missouri River recovery and mitigation activities currently underway. USACE established MRRIC as required by U.S. Congress through the Water Resources Development Act of 2007, Section 5018.

Col. Robert Newbauer: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to begin Fort Peck Flow Test
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct a flow test at Fort Peck starting no sooner than April 26, 2024, with a scheduled completion date of no later than September 1, 2024.

Public comment sought for proposed improvements around River’s Edge North in Council Bluffs, Iowa
OMAHA, Neb. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is soliciting comments regarding proposed improvements in River’s Edge North near L-627 Missouri River Left Bank Federal levee Flood Risk Reduction Project, operated and maintained by the City of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In compliance with Section 10, Rivers and Harbors Act 1899 (33 U.S.C. 403), for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States, Southwest Iowa Nonprofit for Collective Impact (Requestor) has requested permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for an alteration public access to the Missouri River riverfront near Council Bluffs, Iowa at Sections 28, 29, 32, and 33, Township 75 North, Range 44 West, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Results posted: USACE to hold webinar for Missouri River flow frequency analysis
The public is invited to attend a webinar July 19, 2023, from noon – 1:00 p.m. CST by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Kansas City and Omaha districts have completed the updates to the flow frequency data on the Lower Missouri River. The focus of the review is for partners in flood preparedness and response to learn more about the updates and how to use the new data.

USACE, Reclamation to co-host ribbon cutting ceremony for Lower Yellowstone diversion dam, fish passage project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will co-host an official ribbon cutting ceremony on July 26, at 11:00 a.m. on Joe’s Island near Glendive to celebrate the completion of the Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project. The celebration will also acknowledge Reclamation’s 120th anniversary.
