The 2016-17 Gavins Point Project Duck Blind Permit Applications are available for viewing online or in-person at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center, located near Gavins Point Dam. Applications will be accepted at the Gavins Point Project Office or Lewis and Clark Visitor Center until Wednesday, August 17, 2016. There is an earlier due date this year than in year’s past in order to allow hunters more opportunities in the earlier waterfowl seasons. Applicants will be notified of permit drawing results by U.S. Mail.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Gavins Point Project issues duck blind permits for hunters wanting to keep a permanent duck blind on Lewis and Clark Lake for the 2016-2017 season. Duck blinds with permits may not be placed or constructed prior to 12:00 Noon on August 31, 2016 and must be removed no later than May 1, 2017. Applicants are reminded to review all permit conditions prior to applying for a permit. Another change this year is that a photocopy of the hunter’s license is NOT required to be submitted with the application this year, however possession of your valid state hunting license(s) is still required.
Hunters that wish to hunt on Lewis and Clark Lake may do so without a permit from the Gavins Point Project, so long as all blinds and related materials are removed from project lands and waters daily.
