  • High flows scheduled during annual maintenance at Cherry Creek Dam May 22: USACE urges public safety

    Higher than normal flows of water through Cherry Creek Dam will begin this Wednesday, May 22, as part of annual sediment flushing by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to help ensure proper operation of the dam’s outlet gates.

  • Cherry Creek Dam and flood safety event to boost community awareness

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, in collaboration with Denver-area flood risk management partners, will host a community event with displays, gadgets, gear, scientists, engineers and park rangers to share information and build awareness of the role of Cherry Creek Dam in reducing flooding in the Denver area. Specialists in emergency preparedness and on the history and health of the Cherry Creek watershed also will help visitors explore their role in reducing floods.

  • USACE solicits public comments for a new waterline for the fish hatchery at Fort Peck Dam, Montana

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is soliciting comments regarding the proposed implementation of a new waterline at the Fort Peck Fish Hatchery.

  • Public meeting announcement; Offutt AFB former missile site

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District will be hosting a public informational meeting on November 30, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (CST) at the Rand Community Center, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, regarding the environmental remediation of the former Offutt Air Force Base Atlas “D” Missile Site 3, located near Missouri Valley.

  • Final Feasibility Report and Integrated Environmental Assessment for Lower Brule North (NE Shoreline) Ecosystem Restoration, Lyman County, South Dakota Available

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District (Corps) has conducted an environmental analysis in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended. The final Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (IFR/EA) dated July 2022 for the Lower Brule North Ecosystem Restoration Project addresses ecosystem restoration and cultural and natural resource preservation opportunities in Lyman County, South Dakota adjacent to and north of the town of Lower Brule. The study and assessment were conducted under the Tribal Partnership Program (TPP). The resulting report proposes a Recommended Plan that will restore critical riparian and wetland habitats to be implemented as two separable projects under Section 203 of the Water Resources Development Act of 2000 (WRDA 2000), as amended (33 U.S.C. § 2269).

  • Kansas City District to hold public scoping meetings for Lower Missouri River Basin Flood and Risk Resiliency Study

    Five public scoping meetings are scheduled along the Lower Missouri River Basin to provide an update on the ongoing Lower Missouri River Basin Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, also called the system plan, in July. The meetings will be co-hosted by the Omaha District and the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

  • Public comments sought on South Dakota Highway 44, Platte-Winner Bridge Draft Environmental Assessment

    The South Dakota Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District are seeking public comment on a draft environmental assessment (EA) to evaluate the impacts of the proposed Platte-Winner Bridge replacement project located in Gregory and Charles Mix Counties on South Dakota Highway 44.
