    Omaha District hosts small business industry day

    The Omaha District’s Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP) awarded $417 million in contracts to small businesses last year and is looking to grow that number exponentially. To aid in that goal, the program team held a small business industry day, Oct. 30, 2024, to engage with local small businesses and to show them how they can get involved with government contracting.

    While partnership shines across many of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District projects, some of the strongest are those with neighboring districts. One such project benefitting from a district-to-district partnership is the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area Flood Risk Management Project.

    Project Snowpack, innovating future floodplain weather prediction

    Historic flooding of the Upper Missouri River Basin in 2011 prompted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to explore additional solutions in improving flood prediction. This led to the implementation of Project Snowpack, a multi-state and federal agency program that will revolutionize floodplain management throughout the region.
