EIS underway for proposed Perkins County Canal project

Regulatory staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, along with staff from third-party contractor Merjent, conduct a site survey along the route of the proposed Perkins County Canal project near Ogallala, Nebraska, March 11, 2026. The Omaha District is evaluating a federal permit application for the project that will require an Environmental Impact Statement due to the potential for significant effects to the environment.
