Background:

Offutt Ditch is an existing drainage channel that carries stormwater runoff from approximately 1,627 acres to the Missouri River through drainage structures in the existing Missouri River levee (R-616).

During periods of high Missouri River levels, the drainage structures must be closed to help prevent river flooding from entering the protected area. If heavy rainfall occurs while the structures are closed, stormwater can accumulate within the watershed, resulting in flooding. During major flood events, the Papio-Missouri River NRD and the City of Bellevue have used temporary pumps to move water over the levee to help reduce flooding.

This study will evaluate the flooding within the study area and assess a range of potential measures to reduce future flood risk.
