    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (Corps) is evaluating a permit application to construct the Seminoe Pumped Storage project, which would result in the discharge of fill material into approximately 3.64 acres of waters of the United States, including wetlands, in Seminoe and Kortes Reservoirs, along the North Platte River. This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed activity and to solicit comments. The applicant is proposing to construct the Seminoe Pumped Storage project. Based on the available information, the overall project purpose is to produce and deliver energy to market. The applicant’s project purpose, as stated in the application, is to provide energy storage and grid stabilization in the western United States through the operation of two reservoirs utilizing variable-speed pump-turbines to store energy and generate power, as well as up to two transmission corridors for grid connection purposes. The project site is located at Latitude 42.163°, Longitude -106.874°; Sections 3, 4, 9, 10, Township 25 North, Range 84 West, Carbon County, Wyoming. This site is at and near the existing U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Seminoe Reservoir, 35 miles northeast of Rawlins, Wyoming, on the North Platte River, and just east and north from the Seminoe Dam.

    This public notice is issued jointly by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, and the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE), 245 Fallbrook Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68521. NDEE will review the proposed project for state certification in accordance with the provisions of Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. LRC is proposing to amend their current standard permit to include expansion of the active sand and gravel mine at their Plant 40 site to a newly acquired 77-acre parcel. Approximately 36 acres of the new parcel would be mined in 2023, 2024, and 2025. The project is located in Douglas County, adjacent to the east bank (left descending bank) of the Platte River, approximately two miles south of Valley, Nebraska.

  • Special Public Notice: Announcement of Availability of the Wyoming Stream Mitigation Tool (WSQT), Version 2.0

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Omaha District, Wyoming Regulatory Office, announces the availability of the Wyoming Stream Mitigation Tool (WSQT), Version 2.0, which includes the Wyoming Stream Impact Tool (WSIT). The purpose of the WSQT v2 is to calculate functional lift and loss associated with reach- scale stream restoration and impact activities. The tool is a calculator that quantifies change between an existing and future stream condition. A main goal of the WSQT is to produce objective, verifiable, and repeatable results by consolidating well-defined procedures for quantitative measures of structural or compositional attributes of a stream and its underlying processes.
