This public notice is issued jointly by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Omaha District, and the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE). The NDEE will review the proposed regional general permit for state certification in accordance with the provisions of Section 401 of the Clean Water Act. The NDEE hereby incorporates this public notice as its own public notice and procedures by reference thereto. For the purposes of the NDEE, their public notice will expire 30 calendar days from the issue date shown above (October 12, 2024).
This permit authorizes the discharge of suitable material into the waterbodies for the purpose of maintenance and rehabilitation. For the purposes of this permit, waterbodies include lakes, impoundments, and ponds. This permit authorizes hydraulic or mechanical dredging, excavating, and/or the use of bulldozers to remove lakebed sediment that has accumulated in the waterbody over time. Additionally, this permit authorizes the use of suitable material, including the dredged/excavated material, in the construction of sediment control facilities, shoreline stabilization structures, fish & wildlife habitat improvement activities, and boat ramps within waterbodies. The original depths, elevations, contours, and size of the waterbody shall not be significantly altered as a result of the maintenance or rehabilitation activities.
