The District Engineer is considering a request from the Pembina County Water Resource District to reconstruct Pembina County Drain 64. The 4.3 mile project begins in Section 2, Township 161 North, Range 52 West, approximately 5 miles east of Hamilton. The project ends east of the Hefty Seed plant where the drain turns south at Interstate 29 in Section 4, Township 161 North, Range 51 West. [Latitude 48.803410° North, Longitude -97.286148° West. Accumulated sediment will be removed from the majority of the drain, but sections will be deepened and culverts lowered to enhance flow through the drain. The project will impact 12.41 acres of wetlands that have formed in the bottom of the ditch. Approximately 0.03 acre will be permanently lost at the culvert replacement sites. This project is expected to be self-mitigating as the wetlands are expected to re-establish in the drain bottom.
