Cold Brook Reservoir lowered three feet

Published Aug. 2, 2013
OMAHA, Neb. — Cold Brook Reservoir near Hot Springs, S.D., was recently drawn down by more than 3 1/2 feet to allow for construction work on a handicapped accessible pier. Work on the pier will begin August 16. Work to improve the beach is expected to begin in September.

The August 2 pool elevation for Cold Brook reservoir is 3581.70 ft. Daily reservoir information is provided by the Corps at http://www.nwd-mr.usace.army.mil/rcc/nwo/dailybull.pdf.

The recent drawdown began July 12 and ended July 19. Rainfall in early July caused the reservoir to rise slightly above the top of the conservation pool elevation of 3585.0 ft necessitating the release in preparation for the construction project.
