OMAHA, Neb -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Omaha District welcomes the public to participate in a virtual scoping meeting Thursday, March 24 to learn about the recently initiated Snake Creek Embankment Dam Safety Modification Study. The study is evaluating structural and operational alternatives to reduce risk of an embankment failure and ensure the continued economic and environmental benefits provided by the embankment. There is no immediate risk of an embankment failure at the Snake Creek embankment, located just northeast of Garrison Dam in McLean County, North Dakota.
Project staff will provide an overview of the embankment, the purpose of the Dam Safety Modification Study, and the alternatives that are under consideration. Following this presentation, the meeting will be open to public input for USACE to consider in the next stages of the study and in the assessment of environmental and social effects of any proposed action, as conducted under the National Environmental Policy Act.
The meeting will be held via WebEx from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (CT).
The line will open at 5:45 p.m.
