Engineering Support for US Northern Command

Support:
  • USACE is ready to provide up to three Joint Task Force-Army
    North Engineer, JTF-ARN EN, Plug teams
  • USACE is ready to provide Liaisons to NORTHCOM as
    required for 24-hour operations
  • USACE assests are OPCON to NORTHCOM / ARNORTH
  • USACE assistance provided by pre-designated JTF teams staffed
    by volunteers and fully trained with a minimum of two tiers
Missions:
  • Engineer support to the JTF commander, for example:
    • Force bed-down with Anti-Terrorism Force Protection
      considerations
    • Emergency stabilization and repair of damaged critical
      infrastructure
    • Emergency clearing of debris from streets, bridges, airfields,
      ports, and waterways
    • Immediate humanitarian needs of a dislocated populace, such as the construction of temporary shelters and support facilities
    • Demolition of damaged structures and facilities
  • LNOs to NORTHCOM to filter mission requests to avoid
    duplication with ESF#3 Mission Assignments
Process:
  • Request for Forces goes through NORTHCOM to SECDEF and
    down Military channels to HQUSACE
  • HQUSACE alerts and deploys the JTFs and NORTHCOM LNOs
  • The JTFs home District Emergency Management Office manages the deployment of responders
