Summary: The proposed plan includes widening the channel from Cornhusker Highway upstream to just east of 48th Street (approximately 1.6 miles)
and constructing a concrete flume under the BNSF railroad bridges to allow for increased conveyance of flows associated with the 100-year flood event. In addition, the State Fair Park Drive access road would be relocated further south to accommodate the wider channel and address current safety concerns and traffic delays. Environmental mitigation would be completed throughout the project to ensure there is no negative impact on the existing local ecosystem.
