Expiration date: 10/16/2017

Daniel McGowan - The proposed project consist of sluicing accumulated sediment from the Pine Canyon Reservoir behind the McGowan Dam. A total of approximately 50,000 to 100,000 cubic yards per year will be discharged from sluicing events. The discharge will be controlled from the dam and is proposed to discharge at a rate to increase the Plum Creek elevation no more than two feet above base flow, approximately 500 feet below the dam, with no more than one foot of sediment accumulated in Plum Creek. Discharges from the dam would be kept below 500 cubic feet per second. Sluicing will be accomplished from approximately September 15 to April 15 and will consist of one or two sluicing events as needed to move the sediment above the dam down through Plum Creek. Sluicing will be timed to be after Brown Trout spawning and before native species spawning. Plum Creek is a tributary to the Niobrara National Scenic River.
