Expiration date: 9/29/2017

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (Corps) is evaluating a permit application for the North of Kiowa North highway reconstruction project.  This is Phase 4 of a 5 phase project involving the reconstruction of approximately 25.5 miles of US Highway 89 east of Glacier National Park.  The project is covered under the Browning to Hudson Bay Divide EIS STPP-FLA 58-1(40)15.  This phase of the project involves the reconstruction of approximately 5.8 miles of US highway 89 (6.4 miles on current alignment) from approximately Reference Post (RP) 14.4 to approximately RP 20, increasing the road width to 36 feet.  The improved roadway would include two 12-foot travel lanes, with 6-foot wide shoulders on each side.  The proposed project would result in permanent impacts to 1.63 acres of wetlands and 1,092 linear feet (0.097 acre) of stream.  Stream impacts include the removal of existing culverts and construction of new culverts.  This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed activity and to solicit comments.
