OMAHA, Neb. - A public scoping meeting to gather input for developing a Master Plan for the Cold Brook and Cottonwood Springs projects, will be held Sept. 17 at the Mueller Civic Center in Hot Springs, S.D.
Cottonwood Springs project is located west of Hot Springs, S.D. Cold Brook project is located north of Hot Springs, S.D. The Cottonwood Springs and Cold Brook projects are currently operating under the 1981 Master Plan. Therefore, an update of this plan is necessary to manage and project changes in recreation trends and land use. The updated plan will guide the development and management of natural and cultural resources, and recreation related facilities in and around the reservoir. The meeting will start with a brief presentation followed by an open house session where the project team will be available to answer questions and gather public input on the development of restoration plans for the two proposed project areas.
A Master Plan is an important planning document that provides guidance for the stewardship of natural resources and management for long-term public access to, and use of natural resources in cooperation with Tribes, other Federal, State, and local agencies and the private sector.
The public is encouraged to attend at any time between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Mueller Civic Center is located at 801 S. 6th Street, Hot Springs, S.D. 57747.
