YANKTON, S.D. - Flood repair work on Gavins Point Spillway beginning Friday, April 18 will cause a lane closure across the spillway road. The work will include inspection, repair and painting of the 14 spillway gates. The project will continue into the fall.

“The spillway gate repairs are our final repairs resulting from the 2011 flood,” said Dave Becker, Operations Project Manager for Gavins Point.

The repairs will be completed in 2015.

While the repair work is being conducted, one lane of the spillway road will be closed. There is also a 9-foot width restriction in place. Extra traffic lights will be added to help with traffic flow. Delays in spillway area traffic can be expected throughout the repair process. The public is asked to use caution and obey all traffic control signals and/or flagmen to ensure the safety of everyone in the area.
