Location and Description: The purpose of this program is to provide design and construction assistance to non-federal interests to carry out water-related environmental infrastructure and resource protection and development projects in Montana. 

Problem and Need: The primary program objective is to provide assistance to non-federal interests for design and construction of water-related environmental infrastructure and resource protection and development projects in specific geographic areas defined in Section 595 of WRDA 1999.

Issues and Other Information: Work accomplished under this program is shared between the Seattle and Omaha Districts within Northwestern Division. Funds can be used for assistance in the development of (1) wastewater treatment and related facilities, (2) water supply and related facilities, (3) environmental restoration, and (4) surface water resource protection and development. Design and construction assistance may be provided only for projects that are owned by public entities. The federal share of project costs shall be 75 percent and may be in the form of grants or reimbursements of project costs. The non-federal interest shall receive a credit for the reasonable costs of design work completed by the non-federal interest before entering into a local cooperation agreement for the project.
